Pain . . .
It’s what drives us mad. The human experience is wrought with pain and our life is a wrestling match with it. We attempt to avoid it, numb it, control it, assuage it… It is our ultimate nemesis, or so we think. Yet I’ve found that the only way out of it is through it. BUT… how do we enter into the one place we most dread and have spent all of our power trying to play keep away! I invite you to enter a wrestling to rest. I wouldn’t say I’ve arrived. I’m learning not to think in those terms – it actually makes it worse. I’ve found that there is no formula…it’s more like a navigating through. Words are important and words that bring peace in the present are acceptance and surrender. I’ve learned to accept the things I cannot change and surrender them instead of holding onto them with clenched fists. It is a process through the pain, not a one and done. I can attest to beauty and joy on the journey. Like needing daily food and water, we also need daily beauty and joy, or at least a vision for it . . . Beauty Joy Vision!

The only way out is through…
“Pain insists upon being attended to. God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our consciences, but shouts in our pains. It is his megaphone to rouse a deaf world.”
C.S. Lewis
